Poker is one of the most popular games to play whether online or in a land-based casino. Most people might think poker is just one game however, there are in fact many different types of poker games which you can play. For example, have a go at games like Texas Hold’em, Seven Card Stud or Five Card Draw. Or, mix it up with a bit of Omaha Hi or Carribean Stud Poker if you like.

Probably the most commonly played poker game is Texas Hold’em. Most casinos online and land-based offer this version of Poker since it is so popular. Between 2 and 10 players can partake in the game and each player is dealt two face-down cards and 5 community cards face-up by the dealer.

The face-up cards can be used by each player and the first person who comes up with the highest 5 card poker hand wins the pot.

You may find you like to play different types of poker and it really comes down to which game you’ll like the best. So, we recommend you give each a try or watch others play to see if it might be a game you’d enjoy. As always, the more you understand the games of poker the better off you’ll be at hedging your odds. Keep cool under pressure and be sure to only play with money you can afford to lose. Perhaps getting your friends together for some friendly poker games would be a great way to try different types of poker without losing your shirt in the process.

7 Card Stud is the classic game of poker that dates back to the wild west days. Although Texas Holdem has now taken over as the more popular poker game, 7 Card Stud is still played in many casinos around the world. A relatively difficult game compared to the newer ones, it can be played both hi and low.

When learning how to play 7 Card Stud you must know that high 7 Card Stud refers to the player with the highest hand wins the pot whilst if it’s a hi-lo game then the winner with the highest hand splits the winnings with the person who has the lowest hand.

Up to eight players can enter the game and each player must first ante in to begin. The amount of ante is dependent on what it was set as before the game began. Each player gets 2 pocket cards facing down and one facing up. If a player has the lowest face up card then he must throw in a small bet to continue. Betting then continues around the table to each player with the option to raise, call or fold.

After one round of betting has gone around the table, a fourth card is dealt to each player also facing up. This time the player with the highest card puts in a bet and once again the betting goes round the table in a clockwise manner until everyone has had a chance to bet and/or call or fold. A fifth card is then dealt and the highest card bets starting the process once again until the seventh card has been dealt.

The end result is the winner who can display the best hand with five of the seven cards dealt to them wins the pot, unless it’s a game of hi-lo where both high and low hand share the winnings.

Perhaps the most popular poker game today is Texas Holdem. It’s played all over the world from online websites to casinos on land. 2 to 11 players can join in and try their hand from a deck of 52 cards.

If you’re new to poker and would like to know how to play Texas Holdem then you’re in luck because it’s one of the easiest poker games to learn. Like anything in life, to get good at something you must play frequently and learn through experience and study. Texas Holdem is no different however the learning curve compared to other poker games is relatively shorter.

When it comes to betting it can require a bit of discipline as it’s not quite as simple as it appears. For example, when playing with friends you may come across the joker often, which is your wild card, however when it comes to playing with real money in a casino, the joker is much more rare to find.

If you think you might like to give it a try and don’t live near a casino, playing online would be the best place to learn as many online casinos offer free poker to allow you to practice. Also, many online poker companies offer fantastic sign up bonuses to new players so when you are ready to play you can easily double or tripe your initial deposit. Just be sure to learn the ropes a bit and don’t bet more than you can afford to lose, as a general rule.

There are many poker games to be played both online and in land-based casinos. One poker game that is beginning to become more and more popular, especially online, is Carribean Stud Poker.

If you’re wondering how to play Carribean Stud Poker online, or never heard about it, keep reading below to see how fun, and lucrative, this game can be. First of all, you start out with five cards per player. The main difference is with this card game you are playing against the house, not against other players like yourself so you can put away the one-way mirrored sun glasses because your bluffing techniques won’t work in this case….especially online!

Now, before you get your five cards you need to ante in, for example $1. Each player plus the dealer get 5 cards, all face down, except 1 dealer card is facing up. You then must either fold or raise. If you fold, you lose your ante. If you raise, you must throw in the same amount as your ante effectively doubling the amount you initially put in. The deal then turns over his 4 other cards to see if he qualifies. In order for the dealer to qualify he must have at least an Ace and a King. If he doesn’t dealer doesn’t qualify and the player wins even money on his ante and the raise will push.

If the dealer does qualify plus beats the player, that player loses his ante and raise. However, if the dealer qualifies but loses to the player, the ante is paid in even money and the raise will be paid according to a table of pays. If player and dealer end up tied, then ante and raise will push.

It sounds complicated but is relatively easy to learn once you learn how to play Carribean Stud poker online.

One of the easier poker games to learn is Five Card Draw. It’s pretty easy to learn and you’ll be up and playing in no time however, to be great at any poker game you’ll need plenty of practice and experience.

When playing Five Card Draw poker you first need to ante in a bet which typically isn’t a lot of money. Now the dealer passes one card at a time to each player in a clockwise direction. Each card dealt will be face down until all players have at least 5 cards.

Bets can now begin with the player to the dealer’s left who raises first. The first player now has the opportunity to bet but is not required to bet if they feel their hand is not very good. So, the person to this player’s left now has the opportunity to bet until they get to the dealer. If no player bets, then the game is cancelled and new hands are dealt.

Once proper bets have been placed the game of playing Five Card Draw poker truly begins. As bets go around the table, a player can either call the bet, raise or fold. This occurs during the first round of betting. After this first round the players can draw new cards from the deck whilst discarding up to 3 cards to be replaced.

After each player has had their opportunity to replace cards with new ones, as well as placed their bets (or folded) then each player will reveal their cards with the highest hand winning the pot.

Among the variety of poker games available today Omaha Hi Lo Poker is one of the more popular. The way its played is players sat at the poker table all receive 4 cards face down. Then everyone bets on the round. After this initial bet is placed, the dealer puts 3 face up cards in the centre of the table. A round of betting happens once again. The dealer lays another card face up, betting occurs, then a fifth card is laid down face up and once more, a bet is placed.

Now, players will review the cards on the table and their own 4 cards in hand. A player can now choose 2 cards from their hand and mix with any 3 of the 5 on the table to try and come up with teh highest hand to win.

When it comes to winning with a low hand, the player must be able to use 5 cards that are no higher than the number 8 so to give an example, if a player could mix his cards with the communal cards on the table and come up with a combination like 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace then he’s got a great low hand.

One thing to keep in mind when you’re trying to learn to play Omaha Hi Lo Poker is that winning with a low hand is not as easy as it sounds. If you’re used to hands like 3 or 4 of a kind, like in Texas Holdem, then you may be surprised that such a hand is not particularly good in Omaha Hi Lo.

Remember to study any poker game so you know what you are getting into before hand. For example, the best hand you could get is a scooper which wins both the high and low!
